Lucas is the Director of Project Insight, the San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department’s home for all adaptive recreation programs and activities. For over 30 years, Project Insight has provided a wide range of adaptive recreation programs for people who are deaf and hard of hearing, blind and visually impaired, and people who have other disabilities.
For over a decade, Lucas (who is fluent in American Sign Language) has been developing, administering, and directing recreation, outdoor adventure, and cultural exchange programs and trips for the Deaf and Blind/Visually Impaired communities, and for people with other disabilities of all ages. He is also a Lecturer at San Francisco State University for Foundations of Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusive Recreation, a core course for the University’s Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Department.

Lucas’ work includes:
